Frequently asked questions
How should unopened peptides be stored?
- Temperature: Store at -20°C (standard freezer) for long-term storage, which preserves potency for years. For shorter durations (weeks to a few months), a standard refrigerator at 2--8°C is acceptable.
- Moisture Control: Keep peptides completely dry. Store vials in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag, and add a food-grade silica gel packet to absorb moisture.
- Light Protection: Peptides are sensitive to light. Store them in amber vials or keep the storage container completely opaque.
Handling Before Use
- Prevent Condensation: Before opening a frozen vial, allow it to warm completely to room temperature. Opening a cold vial while it is exposed to room humidity will cause condensation, which will degrade the powder.
- Minimize Freeze-Thaw: Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. If you are working with a stock vial, consider portioning the peptide into smaller, single-use aliquots before freezing.
Are peptides shipped refrigerated?
Lyophilized (Powder) Peptides in freeze-dried powder form are very stable and aretypically shipped at room temperature
How to do a reconstitution? Step-by-Step Guide
- Bring to Room Temperature: Remove both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water from the refrigerator and let them sit on the counter for 10–15 minutes. This prevents condensation, which can degrade the peptide.
- Sanitize: Wash your hands and wipe the rubber stoppers of both vials with a fresh alcohol swab. Let the alcohol air-dry for 10–15 seconds.
- Draw the Diluent: Using a sterile syringe (like a 3cc syringe or an insulin syringe), draw up the exact amount of bacteriostatic water needed based on your specific dilution.
- Add Liquid Slowly: Insert the needle into the peptide vial at a 45-degree angle. Press the plunger to dispense the water slowly, letting it run gently down the inside glass wall of the vial. Do not squirt the water directly onto the powder, as rapid injection can cause foaming and permanently damage the peptide structure.
- Mix Gently: Once all the liquid is added, set the vial aside or roll/swirl it slowly in your palms. Never shake vigorously, as agitation can denature the delicate peptide chains.
- Verify and Store: Once mixed, store the reconstituted solution in a refrigerator (usually between 2°C and 8°C, 36°F to 46°F). Do not let it freeze. Protect light-sensitive peptides by storing them in a dark place or wrapping the vial in foil.
How do you verify product quality?
Every batch is independently analyzed for identity and purity before being offered for sale.
Depending on the product, testing may include:
- HPLC purity
- LC-MS identity confirmation
- Batch verification
Do you provide Certificates of Analysis?
Yes.
Every available batch includes its own Certificate of Analysis (COA), which can be downloaded directly from the product page.
What information is included in a COA?
A Certificate of Analysis may include:
- Batch number
- Product identity
- HPLC purity
- LC-MS results
- Date of analysis
- Testing laboratory
Why do different batches have different COAs?
Each production batch is manufactured separately and therefore receives its own independent analytical report.
How are synthetic peptides produced?
Synthetic peptides are manufactured by sequentially linking amino acids into a defined sequence using established peptide synthesis methods.
After synthesis, the peptide is purified and analytically tested before release.
What purity can I expect?
Typical purity specifications are shown on each product page and confirmed by the corresponding COA.
Why isn't purity always 100%?
No analytical purification method produces absolute 100% purity.
Research-grade peptides commonly achieve purity levels exceeding 98%, with remaining trace components typically consisting of synthesis-related impurities or closely related peptide fragments.
